Program Details

Our comprehensive 850-Hour certification provides training in Swedish, Integrative techniques and medical massage therapy. Our program prepares you for a career in private practice, spa setting, or working in the diverse professional health care fields of injury rehabilitation and medical massage therapy. 

At SUAHA you will:

  • Become proficient in a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish massage, craniosacral therapy, clinical & rehabilitative therapy, Thai massage, and more

  • Develop a strong foundation of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, postural analysis, and medical terminology.

  • Explore energy work theories and techniques practiced by many cultures throughout the world

  • Acquire 850 hours of classroom time, hands on massage training and clinical massage

  • Grow a client base while working in our student clinic to build upon when you complete your program

  • Learn how to effectively build a massage therapy business, including marketing, client assessment, ethics, taxes, bookkeeping, time management and business planning

  • Prepare to confidently pass all state and national examinations required to become a competent and professional massage therapist

Our Location

Southern Utah Academy of Healing Arts is located at 535 South Main Street, Cedar City, UT 84720. Several Licensed Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, and Energy workers are currently practicing in the same building, giving you  the benefit of experience in a working massage therapy office setting.

Class Schedule

Classes are held Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, throughout a 9 month program. Class time is split into 2 semesters.

Classes will not be held on the following holidays:

New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Black Friday
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day

Grading System

90 – 100 = A Excellent

80 – 89 = B Above Average

70 – 79 = C Average

60 – 69 = D Below Average

Under 60 = U Unsatisfactory

Graduation Requirements

For each student to graduate the following must be completed:

  • 700 classroom hours

  • 150 hands-on clinic hours

  • All tuition and fees paid

  • A score of C or higher in each class.  If a student does not pass a class, they have the option of retaking it.

Job Placement Assistance

SUAHA's graduates are well qualified to take the National Certification Exam (NCE) provided by the National  Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) or the Massage and Bodywork  Licensing Exam (MBLEX).

Our placement strategy is based upon training students in the skills, experience, and confidence necessary to locate or create employment opportunities in their chosen location and specialty.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent to apply to the program.

 

Applicants must be fully able to participate in classroom requirements. Applicants must be in good health and be physically, mentally and emotionally capable of performing massage therapy.

 

Applicants must possess good communication skills, competency in the occupational environment, and demonstrate a commitment to learning massage therapy
